Refund & Returns:Wrong Item(s)?
Inform us within 7 days of receipt and we'll swing into action! Resolution is dictated by product availability. If the item is still in stock, we'll ship a new one pronto. If the item is no longer in stock, you'll have the option of making a new selection or receiving a refund.
Damaged Item(s)?
Slight variations are inherent in our craft items. A few stray threads in a braided rug or very small missed sections are the norm and do not constitute a flaw. However, if you encounter a large stain, tear or missing section, by all means, please let us know!
Note:If the product(s) was obviously damaged during shipping (i.e., a mangled box along with a mangled product) then you must file a claim with the expediter, i.e., UPS, Fed Ex, etc.
Change Your Mind or Don't Like The Item(s)?
We understand these things happen, but we cannot accept carte blanche returns. Please follow these rules:
1) You
must call to obtain a
Return Authorization Number. If you return anything without a Return Authorization Number and/or to an incorrect return address, your account will be charged an additional handling fee of 20% and the additional shipping charges for the item(s) to be sent back to you. Not all items can be sent back to their point of origin nor to our home office.
2) YOU are responsible for the cost of return shipping and a
25% Restocking Fee.
3) The Restocking Fee is non-negotiable.
4) ALL returned items MUST be unused and in their original packaging.
5)
All sales will be considered FINAL after 7 days of receipt.
We reserve the right to inspect all returns before final resolution. This isn't something we generally do, but sometimes we have to be as careful as you ... unfortunately.
We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding & adherence to our policies.
What Is Jute?
Jute is a primary resource fiber and is quite sustainable. In fact, it's possible to cultivate up to three jute crops annually! Jute is a reed (like bamboo) that grows best in fertile delta soil. The Jute plant is harvested then split open to expose the inner fibers. The inner fibers of the Jute stalk are very soft and after retting, cleaning and combing they are spun into yarn. The natural sheen of jute fiber retains the look of fine silk. Jute leaves a smaller environmental footprint than other types of natural fibers and is, of course, eco-friendly and biodegradable.
What Are Jute Rugs?
Jute Rugs are made from 100% natural jute fiber. Our Jute Rugs are products of "the weavers art," practiced for centuries by the native craftspeople of Bangladesh and India. Jute Rugs date back to the very beginning of rug weaving and were extensively used during the 17th through 19th centuries throughout the old British Empire. Historically, jute fiber has been treasured for its capacity to take and hold beautiful colors. Brilliantly dyed jute fibers have been found in Neolithic remains dating back thousands of years. Today, our Jute Rugs are yarn dyed with the highest quality chemical dyes available; the rich colors and authentic designs used in our Jute Rugs are rooted in American tradition.
How Durable Are Jute Rugs?
Jute is one of the strongest fibers known to man! It was used on seaworthy vessels before the invention of steel cables. When woven into rugs, jute fibers provide lasting beauty and strength, as they're able to withstand commercial use and capable of lasting a lifetime in the home.
What If They Get Wet?
Jute has natural water repellent characteristics. This means water and most liquid spills will bead up to the surface first, allowing for quicker clean-up. Remember, jute is a reed that naturally grows in water. Water cannot damage a rug woven from jute fiber.
Are Jute Rugs Fire Safe?
Yes! Jute Rugs are naturally fire retardant (our Jute Rugs have NOT been treated with any fire retardant chemical) and our Jute Rugs meet the Consumer Product Safety Commission Standard FF1 for flammability. What this means is that Jute Rugs will NOT ignite if a spark lands on it, but will smolder instead. Jute Rugs are absolutely perfect near the fireplace!
Are Jute Rugs Safer Than Other Braided Rugs?
Yes, because Jute Rugs are 100% natural. Natural jute fiber is safer to use in any home with children or pets than synthetic rugs made with man made fibers. Other natural fiber braided rugs like wool are often treated with chemicals for moth proofing. Jute is naturally moth proof and our Jute Rugs are NOT treated with any moth proofing chemical!
How Are Jute Rugs Cleaned?
Just like other fine rugs, they can be cleaned with soap and water, with a mild carpet shampoo or commercially dry cleaned. Cleaning enhances the beauty of these rugs. Vacuum normally. Do NOT machine wash.
One Last "Selling Point"
Our Braided Rugs are considered to be "flat braided rugs," in that there is NOT an inner core fiber, just three bands of natural jute fiber braided band by band. Thus, doors open and close more easily than with traditional braided rugs. Additionally, with a flat braided rug, dining room chairs (and other types) sit more securely and evenly (even if all four legs are not on the rug). There is no extra bulk or unmanageable thickness!
